A modern medical transportation

Elderly and disabled people often rely on someone else in order to get to a doctor's appointment, medical clinic or the emergency room. Medical transportation services are available to take certain individuals to the appropriate destinations that offer healthcare services. People that are wheelchair bound need to be transported in special commercial size vehicles. A modern medical transportation van may have a special lift that easily accommodates people on wheelchairs or scooters. The lift is lowered to ground level to allow individuals to safely and comfortably get inside the van. A medical transport website could have a "click here" section that shows information on the company's fleet.

Individuals that use walkers could get assistance with getting in and out of a van. The walkers could be neatly folded and put away in the back of the vehicle during a trip. Similarly, wheelchairs may also be folded and placed in a storage area. However, some transportation services allow handicap individuals to sit on their wheelchairs in the back of a spacious van.

Medical transportation is usually provided as a service for non-emergency situations. People typically have to call in advance to schedule a pickup from a certified medical transport company. It's a good idea to schedule a pickup time that's at least one hour or more before an appointment. Drivers of medical transportation vehicles have the duty to help all passengers as needed. For example, the drivers may have to physically assist passengers with getting in and out of a van.
